Watch (and Cry) as The Wild Robot’s Stellar Cast Voices Their Characters

DreamWorks Animation’s movie adaptation of Peter Brown’s The Wild Robot continues to look amazing in the new featurette just released.

The three-and-a-half minute clip delves into the feature’s unique illustration style and what attracted Chris Sanders (How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, Disney’s Lilo & Stitch) to the adaptation. (Spoiler: it’s in part because the main robot, Roz, is an “unrelentingly kind character.”)

But perhaps what might be more interesting to viewers is seeing the behind-the-scenes glimpses we get of the stellar cast voicing their respective roles. We see Lupita Nyong’o singing as Roz; Pedro Pascal grinning as he speaks as fox Fink, Catherine O’Hara being Catherine O’Hara as an opossum; Mark Hamill chewing the scenery as a grumpy bear; and Kit Conner as the gosling Brightbill, whom Roz adopts.

Here’s a synopsis, if you’re unfamiliar with the story:

The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short—that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

Stock up on tissues before The Wild Robot premieres in theaters on September 27, 2024.
