The final season of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale is set to traumatize us this April, and if you were worrying about where you could watch a fictional story about women losing all their rights and fighting back, don’t fret: the sequel series, The Testaments, is almost greenlit, and another actor is on board for the production.
The Testaments, like The Handmaid’s Tale, is based on a book by Margaret Atwood. It’s a sequel to Handmaid’s, takes place fifteen years after the end of the previous novel, and is narrated by three female characters.
One of those characters is Aunt Lydia, and Ann Dowd is already attached to the sequel series to reprise the role she plays in Handmaid’s Tale. Today, Deadline broke the news that Chase Infiniti has also joined the call sheet as one of the three leads.
Infiniti, whose previous credits include playing the daughter of Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga in the recent series, Presumed Innocent (pictured above), will play Agnes in The Testaments. This means one main role—that of Daisy—remains officially uncast. The television show also apparently makes it explicit that Agnes’ mother is June, Elisabeth Moss’ character in The Handmaid’s Tale. Whether Moss makes an appearance as a guest star in the spinoff remains to be seen.
