Squid Game 2 Teaser Girds Us for Another Game

The second season of Squid Game looms ever closer, and Netflix has released a teaser that confirms that the upcoming episodes, once again written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, will be just as brutal as the first.

The second season sees the return of Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who has signed up to play another round of the murderous game he barely survived three years ago. Based on the teaser, it looks like he wants to upend the game from the inside and convince the other players to opt out and, in doing so, save their lives.

The teaser also suggests that his efforts may be in vain. More than one person gets summarily shot by the giant Red Stop, Green Stop robot doll who has machine guns in her eyes. We also get glimpses of some new players who will likely die before the second season is over, if the first season is anything to go by, and confirmation that the rich, evil powers that be are still going strong.

In addition to Lee Jung-jae, Squid Game 2 sees the return of actors Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo in their respective roles. Newcomers to the series include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yuri, and Won Ji-an.

Squid Game 2 premieres on Netflix on December 26, 2024. Happy holidays!
