Scott Langford appointed CEO of Housing Australia


The Community Housing Industry Association (CHIA) has welcomed Scott Langford as the new chief executive of Housing Australia.

Scott Langford has been appointed as the new chief executive of Housing Australia, with the Community Housing Industry Association (CHIA) welcoming the move.

CHIA CEO Wendy Hayhurst praised Mr Langford’s capabilities and experience in the sector.

“Scott Langford is a talented, highly capable executive who will lead Housing Australia with purpose and intelligence,” Ms Hayhurst said.

Mr Langford brings extensive experience to the role, having led St George Community Housing for the past eight years.

During his tenure at St George Community Housing, he was responsible for 12,000 people in more than 7,000 homes and managed a property portfolio worth almost $4 billion.

In addition to his leadership role, Mr Langford has contributed to numerous sector and industry boards, as well as CHIA’s ESG standard steering committee.

Ms Hayhurst highlighted Mr Langford’s suitability for the position., 

“Scott is an excellent choice to lead Housing Australia as it works to deliver the Federal government’s social and affordable rental housing programs and grapple with Australia’s significant housing challenge,” Ms Hayhurst said.

The appointment comes as Housing Australia aims to address the country’s housing challenges and implement government initiatives in social and affordable rental housing.

CHIA also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing CEO, Nathan Dal Bon.

“Under Nathan Dal Bon’s leadership, $4.1 billion in long-term loans to 41 community housing providers were approved, supporting over 18,800 new and existing homes,” Ms Hayhurst said.

“Nathan has been a superb leader who has always been highly responsive and supportive. We wish him the very best.”

Mr Langford’s appointment is expected to bring new leadership and expertise to Housing Australia as it continues its mission to improve housing accessibility and affordability across the country.
