Ruby Vo: From property management to sales success

Ruby Vo’s journey in real estate began in 2010 when she started as a property manager.

Little did she know that this would be the beginning of a successful career in sales that would span over a decade.

“I started off as a property manager and didn’t know much about real estate at all, but I was always keen on buying and selling real estate,” Ms Vo said.

In 2013, Ms Vo made the transition into sales, driven by her passion for helping people and her natural ability to connect with clients.

Her move paid off when she listed and sold her own house within the first week, followed by two of her neighbours deciding to sell through her as well.

“Since then, it hasn’t stopped,” she said.

Operating primarily in the Greater Dandenong area, including Dandenong, Dandenong North, and Doveton, Ms Vo has recently expanded her reach to Springvale, tapping into the Asian market.

“Because I’m a bit older now, I can relate to the Asian market speaking my own language as well,” she said.

Ms Vo prides herself on her ability to look after elderly vendors, treating them with the same care and respect she would show her own grandparents or parents.

“I just give them a bit more loving care because I believe in doing the right thing by them,” she said.

“That’s by achieving the best sale result, giving them guidance to the correct campaign, and making sure that the transaction is smooth and stress-free for them.”

Her dedication and skill have not gone unnoticed with Ms Vo winning the Pinnacle Award with Area Specialist.

The decision to move to Area Specialist was driven by a desire for a better commission structure and more flexibility.

“Basically, we would end up with close to nothing at the end of the campaign,” he said.

“Whereas Area Specialist would give us more of a bonus, which we can focus on listing and not always prospecting because of the higher commission that we get.”

The move has allowed Ms Vo to run her own business and be her own boss, focusing on service rather than chasing numbers.

This approach has paid off, with Ms Vo typically doing around 40 sales per year, with plans to double that in the coming year.

As a mother of three children under 10, the flexibility offered by Area Specialist has been crucial for Ms Vo.

“Working with Area Specialist is flexible because I get to work from home, spend more time with the kids as well, and just juggle with my own time,” she said.

Ms Vo is also deeply involved in her community, sponsoring cricket clubs and participating in charity auctions.

She has also started a free networking group aimed at helping small businesses in the area.

Working alongside her husband since 2012, Ms Vo has been with Area Specialist since its inception in 2017.

Her team currently consists of three members, all dedicated to providing excellent service to their clients and community.

“We bounce off each other,” she said.

“We’ve been working together since 2012, and it’s not just about real estate—it’s about helping the community, building connections, and making sure we give back.

“That’s really what drives us every day.”

Area Specialist is a real estate platform for top-performing agents, providing the systems, tools and technology they need to create, grow and power their business.
