We not only have another release date for the much-anticipated series adaptation of Cixin Liu’s sci-fi series, The Three-Body Problem, but we also have a new teaser that shows John Bradley (a.k.a. Samwell Tarly on Game of Thrones) entering the alien-created virtual reality that plays a pivotal role in Liu’s first book.
The Netflix show, which has the slightly modified title, 3 Body Problem, comes from Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and writer-producer Alexander Woo (The Terror: Infamy, True Blood). We got a teaser trailer for the series back in June, which looks pretty good, in my opinion. And today, we got a clip from the upcoming show that centers on Bradley’s character, Jack Rooney.
The footage has Jack trying on some super-advanced virtual reality tech, a headset that is so immersive it causes him to drop more than a few F-bombs while experiencing it. Not that I blame him.
I won’t delve into what that virtual reality space means for the story, but I don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler to say that it plays a significant role.
Here’s Netflix’s official logline for the show:
A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day. As the laws of nature unravel before their eyes, five former colleagues reunite to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.
In addition to Bradley, the show stars Jovan Adepo, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, Benedict Wong, Jonathan Pryce, Rosalind Chao, Ben Schnetzer, and Eve Ridley.
We also found out today that Netflix pushed the series premiere back from January 2024 to March 21, 2024. Here’s a poster to celebrate the news:
