The CHP is investigating the crash as a homicide
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a homicide that occurred on a freeway in the San Jose area Monday night, officials said.
A few minutes before 10 p.m. north of De Anza Boulevard, CHP officers responded to a crash. There, they found a driver with serious injuries from crashing into the center divide on Interstate 280.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died. Doctors at the hospital informed officers that the victim had a gunshot wound to his head in addition to the crash injuries.
Detectives are now trying to determine what happened and identify a suspect.
According to witnesses, the victim may have been involved in a road rage incident or racing before crashing, CHP officials said.
