Judge Grants Keke Palmer Temporary Sole Custody Of Her Son

Keke Palmer was granted temporary sole custody of her 8-month-old son Leodis on Friday, according to multiple outlets, after she filed a request for a domestic violence restraining order against Darius Jackson, the child’s father.

Key Facts

Palmer requested full physical and legal custody of her son from the court in a filing Thursday, alleging Jackson struck her and grabbed her neck in “many instances of physical violence,” according to CNN.

Jackson must stay at least 100 yards away from Palmer and their son and will have no visitation with the child “until further order of the court,” CNN added.

Palmer filed the request in Los Angeles County Superior Court, which issued the temporary order pending a hearing on Dec. 5, the AP reported.

Palmer alleged in the filing that Jackson, whom she dated from June 2021 until this October, physically and emotionally abused her and recently trespassed into her home, according to the AP.

Forbes was not able to reach representatives for Palmer or Jackson, who declined to comment or did not respond to inquiries from multiple outlets.

Key Background

Palmer, an actress, singer and talk show host, most recently had lead roles in movies such as “Nope,” “Lightyear” and “Alice.” Palmer’s relationship with Jackson hit some public snags this year after Jackson criticized an outfit Palmer wore to an Usher concert in July, indicating it was a questionable choice because she was a mom. Jackson was hit with backlash on X, formerly known as Twitter, with users blasting his criticism of the outfit. Palmer later starred in an Usher music video titled “Boyfriend,” in which she poked fun at Jackson’s comment. Jackson is the brother of Sarunas J. Jackson, who is known for playing Alejandro ‘Dro’ Peña on Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore’s HBO series “Insecure.”
