Dezeen Showroom: Italian brand Mara has released a new version of its Icon chair, designed by Marcello Ziliani in flexible polypropylene for enhanced comfort and versatility.
The new Icon chair features the same embracing armrests as its upholstered predecessor, but interpreted in a polypropylene plastic shell that is appropriate for use in a variety of settings – including outdoors.
The shell also has the advantage of greater elasticity – carefully fostered through the joins between the seat, backrest and armrest – for even more comfort and movement to support healthy sitting.
The new Icon chair comes in a selection of five colours – Terracotta, Green, Light Blue, Black and White – for its shell and its metal legs, giving it a monochromatic appearance.
There is also the option of a removable and washable seat cushion, available in a wide range of Mara fabrics, as well as four-spoke or five-spoke bases.
Mara says the chair is well-suited to offices, contract and outdoor settings, while a high-back version with a padded seat and backrest is particularly tailored to use in workplaces.
