A fatal crash was reported on Williston Road in Alachua County early Tuesday morning, according to information from Alachua County Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to a release from Alachua County Fire Rescue, the crash happened Tuesday at about 4:49 a.m.

Southwest Williston Road near its intersection with Southwest Wacahoota Road.
What caused the crash?
According to the ACFR release, units arrived at the scene where they found two vehicles with “heavy damage” due to a head-on collision. One of the drivers had to be extricated from their vehicle. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals.
FHP’s online live crash report indicates the crash was fatal, but no other details have been released. As of 9 a.m., all lanes of traffic in the area remained blocked.
