Dune Awakening debuts gameplay and comes to PC early 2025

Funcom showed off Dune Awakening at Opening Night Live and announced the massively multiplayer online game will debut in 2025 on the PC.

The game studio showed off its gameplay in a Dune universe which is truly an open world because it takes place in an alternate universe where Paul Atreides was never born. By removing the presence of the book’s main character, the game’s narrative is less predictable and more ideal for an MMO community that likes to make up its own narratives.

A Harkonnen village in Dune: Awakening.

You can deploy Hunter Seeker drones that can serve as flying robot assassins. You can craft equipment using a replicator, and you can sell blueprints for your creations to other players. You can take a Thopter into the air and listen to the radio on events happening on Arrakis, the deadliest planet in the galaxy.

You can return to your lair with your loot to places like a Harkonnen village. You pledge allegiance to one of the Great Houses and hunt for spice, the rarest resource in the galaxy. You can raid other houses and avoid the jaws of sandworms as you mine spice. The game will hit the consoles after the PC.
