Disney’s New Goosebumps Adaptation Premieres On the Most Appropriate Day in October

Halloween candy is already on grocery store shelves—seriously—which means it’s high time for the arrival of suitable streaming series for spooky season. Hence, the premiere date for Disney and Hulu’s Goosebumps adaptation has just been announced—Friday, October 13th, naturally.

Goosebumps arrives as part of “Hallowstream” on Disney+ and “Huluween” on Hulu. Here’s the synopsis:

Plunging viewers into a world of mystery and suspense, the new Goosebumps series follows a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.

Goosebumpsof course, comes from the mind of R.L. Stine, who terrified many a young reader with his countless creepy tales. There are a lot of Goosebumps books, but the series pulls from five specific titles: Say Cheese and Die!, The Haunted Mask, The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, Go Eat Worms!, and Night of the Living Dummy.

The show stars Justin Long, Rachel Harris, Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, and Will Price. It was developed by Nicholas Stoller (a producer on D.C League of Super Pets) and Rob Letterman (the director of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu). If IMDb is to believed, its writers include Mariko Tamaki (This One Summer).

Goosebumps will launch with not one but five episodes on Friday the 13th, with the first season’s remaining five episodes appearing weekly.
