Florida State was leading by four points with 14.2 seconds left at Boston College and somehow lost 77-76 on Saturday.

The Eagles inbounded the ball and raced the length of the floor for a layup with 7.3 seconds to go to cut the lead to two at 76-74. Florida State, with one timeout remaining, inbounded the ball. And that’s when things went horribly wrong.

An inbound pass to Jamir Watkins flew way over his head and was corralled by Boston College’s Chas Kelley III. With no Florida State defender around him, Kelley launched a 3-pointer with six seconds remaining. And he made it.

After using that timeout, Florida State wasn’t able to get a game-winning shot and the Eagles held on for one-point win.

In addition to coughing up a four-point lead with just over 14 seconds to go, Florida State led by eight with under a minute left before Boston College cut the lead to five with 48 seconds to go and led by seven with 37 seconds to go. But the Eagles outscored the Seminoles 12-4 over the final 37 seconds of the game for just their second ACC win of the season.

Florida State fell to 13-9 overall and 4-7 in ACC play with the loss, while Boston College is now 10-11 overall and 2-8 in the ACC.
