The Old Guard 2 Gets Release Date, First-Look Photos

It’s finally happening! The sequel to Netflix’s 2020 feature, The Old Guard, is going to be available for streaming in mere months.

Today, Netflix released some first-look images from The Old Guard 2, which see Charlize Theron and the rest of the original cast coming back as their immortal soldier characters.

Here’s the synopsis for the sequel:

Andy (Theron) and her team of immortal warriors are back, with a renewed sense of purpose in their mission to protect the world. With Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) still in exile after his betrayal, and Quynh (Veronica Ngô) out for revenge after escaping her underwater prison, Andy grapples with her newfound mortality as a mysterious threat emerges that could jeopardize everything she’s worked towards for thousands of years. Andy, Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli) and James Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) enlist the help of Tuah (Henry Golding), an old friend who may provide the key to unlocking the mystery behind immortal existence.

The movie is directed by Victoria Mahoney, whose previous credits include directing episodes of Lovecraft Country, Suits LA, and Grey’s Anatomy, and serving as second director on The Rise of Skywalker. Uma Thurman also stars in the production, and the film, like the one before it, is based on the world created by Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernandez.

The Old Guard 2 premieres on Netflix on July 2, 2025.
