SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry is issuing a State of Emergency declaration ahead of a forecasted deep freeze expected next week.
In a news release, the governor asks Louisiana residents to download the “Get a Game Plan” app to stay updated on the state’s efforts to manage this potential weather emergency.
The National Weather Service has issued cold weather advisories and extreme cold warnings for Louisiana starting Monday, January 20, through Thursday, January 23.

“Keeping Louisianans safe is our top priority. I declare a state of emergency for the incoming winter storm forecasted to impact Louisiana, and I’m encouraging everyone to stay alert, monitor the weather forecast, and prepare for any potential impacts,” Governor Landry said.
The State of Emergency includes all 64 parishes in the state and will allow for direct state assistance to support operational measures at the parish level and help protect “life, safety, and welfare of Louisianans.”
