30 cm of snow in August? It's possible in Alberta's Rockies

An upper trough will bring in cooler-than-normal temperatures over the next 24 hours for Western Canada.

This will also mean freezing levels that will resemble October rather than August. Freezing levels will be at approximately 1800 metres, and normally they would be around 3000 metres at this time of the year.

Areas across British Columbia such as Whistler, Revelstoke and the Okanagan connector have already seen late-summer flakes of snow on Tuesday.

The precipitation will last from Tuesday evening through Wednesday in the alpine, with up to 30 cm possible in the Alberta Rockies.

The temperatures will rebound by the weekend, however, as a ridge of high pressure dominates, bringing another round of summer heat.
